FORTS
The forts are the evidences of the events happened here during the First World War. These areas where, as a matter of fact, the border between Austria and Italy, the location where the enemy armies faced each other.
Fort of Tenna
Raised between 1880 and 1882, it is a quadrangular plan building, realized with metamorphic stones dug out in the quarry of ‘Valle dell’Orco’: the stones  were carried with barges along the banks of Levico’s Lake and transferred to the area through a cable railway. The construction was arranged on two floors: on the ground floor were located the kitchens and on the mezzanine were situated the dormitories. The front facade had four, 7 metres high elliptical-shape half-columns (still visible). You can reach the fortress starting   from S. Rocco square of Tenna and walking along via Roma and via S.Valentino.

Fort ‘Colle dele benne’
Twin work of Fort of Tenna, it is located on the hill which towers over the lake on the northern-eastern side; it functioned as observatory and storage, since its position was rearward towards the front. The fort has a polygonal arrangement and the north flank is provided with a buttress composed by an outer armored  part. The internal disposition follow the structures of the Austrian late XIX century fortifications. You can reach this fort from Levico, walking along via S. Biagio and following a dirt tiny road until ‘Colle delle Benne’ where the Fort stands.

Forte Busa Verle
Built between 1907 and 1914, it raises on the Highland of Vezzena. He had the specific task of defending Austria-Hungarian and Italian borders. Moreover it blocked the line towards the Highland of Asiago. It was heavily bombarded at the beginning of the war (from May 1916) with the start of the Strafexpedition (punitive expedition) and as the front moved to the south-east. Thus it became the soldier’s quarters and a connecting observation post. You can reach the fort only by foot, along the roads which leads to Cima Vezzena.
